The 28-year-old has previously featured for Australia’s U23 team but could soon be donning Kenyan colours after Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat decided to hand him an opportunity.
Kenyan-born winger Bruce Kamau is set to earn his maiden Harambee Stars call-up ahead of the four-nations tournament.
Born in Kenya before moving to Australia when he was four, Kamau had previously expressed an interest to play for Australia but it seems Harambe Stars coach Engin Firat had convinced him to choose his country of birth.
At 28, time is running out for the winger, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, having represented Australia at youth level but yet to earn a call-up for the Socceroos, hence making him eligible to play for Kenya.

Bruce Kamau was instrumental in helping Perth Glory grab yet another win in the Australian A league.
Kamau currently plays for Australia A-League side Perth Glory who he joined permanently from Greek Super League side OFI Crete last year.
Kamau joined OFI Crete on a three-year contract after scoring 10 goals in 64 games for Western Sydney Wanderers who he had played for between 2018 and 2021.
One-and-a-half years later, he was loaned to Melbourne Victory until the end of the 2022-23 season after which he made the switch to Perth Glory last August.
Kamau, who managed five appearances while scoring two goals for the Australia Under-23 team, will be latest of the foreign-based or born players that Firat has been incorporating into his team.
“If you have a passion for something you should by all means follow that. You just need to make sure you put in the hard work because it is a lot of hard work and effort and as long as you are able to do that, and try to seize the opportunities you have, then everything will work out,” Kamau told Alex Chamwada’s Daring Abroad on how he managed to hack it in Australia in 2019.
The interview came three years after he spoke highly of his adopted country.
"I would definitely like to represent Australia. That’s been a goal of mine for a while. So, if I ever get the chance, then I’d definitely pick the Socceroos,” he said.
“I just go out to play week-in, week-out, do my best, and if that opportunity ever arises, I’ll happily take it with both hands."
Now, an opportunity seems to have arisen not in Australia but in Kenya and Harambee Stars fans will be hoping that he adds the much-needed quality to the squad.
