PSG will have to fight back from a goal down if they are to play in the UEFA Champions League final later this month.

Edin Terzić’s men have secured a slender advantage after beating PSG 1-0 at the Signal Iduna Park in the Champions League semi-final first leg match.

Dortmund’s hero of the night was Niclas Fullkrug, who scored a glorious goal in the 36th minute of the game. He brilliantly controlled a long ball from defender Nico Schlotterbeck before slotting past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

How it happened

It was a game of numerous chances at both ends, but poor finishing meant the scoreline remained 1-0 despite the many great chances that were created.

Real Madrid-borne Kylian Mbappe hit the post after some fine footwork in the Dortmund box. His curling shot beat Gregor Kobel but not the frame of the post. The rebound fell to Achraf Hakimi, who also fired a shot that hit the woodwork.

PSG would have equalised, but they missed some glaring chances - chief culprit was Fabián Ruiz, who missed two free headers in the second half when he was put through on goal by an exquisite cross from Vitinha.

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho was the star of the show and terrorised PSG’s defense all night with his brilliant runs and tricks. On one occasion Niclas Fullkrug couldn’t profit from Sancho's brilliant cutback, firing over when he was unmarked in the box.

Both teams will square up again in six days' time at the Parc des Princes. If Dortmund can hold their nerves, they will be playing in their first UCL final since the 2012/2013 season when they lost to Bayern Munich.

However, PSG will come out all guns blazing to have another chance to win the one trophy that has eluded them in their history.
