Bournemouth have added another player to their squad in the form of Ghana international Semenyo, who played twice at the World Cup
Bournemouth have added Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo to their winter shopping cart, which already includes Burkinabe winger Ouattara Dango and goalkeeper Darren Randolph.
Bournemouth sign Semenyo on a long-term deal
The Cherries, who appear desperate to beef up their forward line, have already signed Dango and have sounded out Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo despite completing a deal for Semenyo from Bristol City.
The 23-year-old forward joins Bournemouth on a four-and-a-half-year contract and is expected to join the first team immediately.
Bournemouth have expressed their excitement at signing Semenyo and the Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said, "Antoine is an exciting player and one we have monitored for a while.
"He had interest from elsewhere, and so we're delighted to welcome him to the club."
Antoine Semenyo’s season so far
Before his winter transfer to Bournemouth, Semenyo had been in fine form for Bristol City and was a major player in the Robins' battle to beat relegation from the EFL Championship.
Semenyo scored six league goals, including three in his last three appearances, and assisted two more for Bristol in 23 appearances, of which 11 were starts.
In all competitions, he has contributed to 10 goals for Bristol, and his immense potential was enough for Bournemouth to seek him out as their latest signing this window.
Semenyo will be moving from one relegation battle to another as he joins the Cherries who are currently 18th in the Premier League, but at least he will be doing it at a club playing a level above Bristol.
Semenyo is no stranger to pressure and is already a full Ghanaian international who has already represented his country at a World Cup.
The winger was part of Ghana’s squad to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and played twice for Ghana in crucial ties against Portugal and Uruguay.
