Evan Ferguson was on target for Brighton in a 2-0 Premier League victory over relegation-threatened Bournemouth.

In the 28th minute, the striker skillfully turned in Kaoru Mitoma's cross to put Albion on course for a 2-0 Premier League victory against relegation-threatened Bournemouth.

In extra time, Julio Enciso, a substitute, scored his first goal for the team to seal the victory at the Vitality Stadium, moving the sixth-placed Seagulls to within four points of the Champions League berths.

Evan Ferguson has the potential to develop into a great player, according to Roberto De Zerbi, after the Irish teenager's incredible flicked finish aided Brighton's bid for European qualifying.

De Zerbi hails Fergusons quality

The Irish teenager's performance has been commended by De Zerbi, who also claimed that he has the potential to develop into a great player.

Speaking in an interview, Zerbi said, “Evan is very young. His best quality is to score and it’s a very important quality but I think he has potential to improve in other parts of the pitch, to play with the other players, to play more for the team.

“In my work I have to make results but I have to help my players to improve, to progress. But I think we can achieve our target with Evan.

“I’m proud for him, I think the same for our scouting in our club. He can become a great player.”

During his breakout campaign on the south coast, Ferguson has now netted eight goals for Brighton this season in all competitions.

Brighton’s injury worries

Both Caicedo's injury in the final 17 minutes and the substitution of World Cup winner Mac Allister for Enciso throughout the game have caused Brighton manager De Zerbi more concern.

However, De Zerbi has offered a positive update on the pair. Speaking about Ecuador international Caicedo, he said, “It’s not a big problem. For Alex the same.

“Alex had a small problem at the end of the first half and I didn’t want to take any risks because both are very important and I didn’t want to lose them.”

In other news, Premier League leaders Arsenal are prepared to try again in the summer for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo after the deal collapsed in January.
