Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco talks about his future amid Barcelona interest.

Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco spoke about his future amid interest from rival Barcelona.

Rojiblancos boss Diego Simeone confirmed Barca's interest in the Belgium international, but the deal has reportedly stalled.

Barcelona's interest in Carrasco

Xavi Hernandez is reportedly a big fan of the player's profile and wants him in the squad.

However, Barcelona's financial situation means they have to prioritise, and with recruitment needed in other more pressing positions, talks have cooled.

What Carrasco said

The winger is aware of developments, and in a recent interview, he revealed that he sees himself doing the pre-season with Atletico Madrid, suggesting he is not expecting an offer before then.

His contract ends in June 2024, and he has been strongly linked to the Catalan giants, but he says he wants to be focused on the present and does not want to worry about transfers as the window has yet to be opened.

"At the moment, I see myself doing the preseason at Atlético , I am very happy, but you never know what can happen in football. If offers arrive, we will discuss it with the club ," he said, per Relevo.

"I still have a year on my contract at Atlético. The market isn't open yet. I'm still here with the national team concentrating on what I have to do and then the holidays. I'm still with my head here. You never know what can happen.

"Then it will be time to think about a transfer, a contract extension or the execution of my last year of contract in Madrid."

Meanwhile, the CIES Football Observatory reveals the most followed clubs on social networks, with LaLiga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top ahead of Manchester United.

Real topped the list with a whopping 362 million followers across the four platforms in view, with Barcelona second with 342 million followers.
