Moises Caicedo's record-breaking transfer to Chelsea and the special celebration with his mother have inspired a young Nigerian football.

Chelsea’s summer signing Moises Caicedo has inspired a Nigerian youngster, Owoyemi Hassan Olamilekan, following his record-breaking transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo became the most expensive player in British football history following his £115 million move from Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Ecuadorian defensive midfielder shattered the record held by his new teammate Enzo Fernandez, who joined from Benfica for £106 million.

Caicedo penned an incredible eight-year contract that will see him stay at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2031, with an option to extend for a further year.

He was subsequently unveiled with a special video that featured his mother, Carmen.

Pulse Sports reported that in the video, Caicedo and his mother recounted his journey to stardom and how their dream had come to pass.

“Today is the day, my son,” she said to Caicedo. “Mom, do you remember when that photo was taken?” Caicedo quizzed the mother.

“Yes, son, i remember. It was in Cayambe in 2020,” she replied. “A lot of time has passed since then but finally it’s happened,” Moises added

That beautiful moment between Caicedo and his mother has inspired a young Nigerian footballer who has promised to recreate the image with his mother.

“One day, I would recreate this with my mother,” Olamilekan posted on his X.com account. “If you believe, say Amen,” he added.

The youngster, who adores and idolises Barcelona legend and Inter Miami superstar, Lionel Messi, is a left-footed versatile forward who can play as a supporting striker and on the wings.

On his future

Owoyemi also dreams of playing for Chelsea in future but has his sight set on a move to Ikenne-based Remo Stars Academy, Beyond Limits FA, where he would love to continue his development.

“I admire the club (Beyond Limits) so well and will be looking forward and ready to take any opportunity to play for the club,” Olamilekan told Pulse Sports Nigeria in a brief chat.

The forward is currently on a social media campaign to get the attention of the club to sign him up after coming across a post from the highly-rated football institution.

“I came across the post from the club, wanting a random player to send them a creative video to see if there will be an opportunity to be invited for a trial,” he added.
