Cromwell: Vipers-FUFA deadlock threatens star forward
Pulse Sports Uganda understands that FUFA, Vipers and the forward had a stormy hearing at Mengo House last week over the player's contract. Following the hearing, FUFA's dispute resolution committee has yet to pronounce its ruling.
With the top-flight league hours from kick-off, the deadlock leaves Rwothomio technically without a club after Vipers left him out of the 2023/24 season squad.
Rwothomio was among the players the club released in the transfer window for allegedly being "surplus" to requirements. Following the alleged 'release', Rwothomio's shirt 17 was taken up by new signing Rodriguez Shamamba.
Vipers reportedly want to force the player to join another club on a loan deal and return to an uncertain future at the club. At the same time, Rwothomio hopes to get a release letter, making his exit official.
However, with the summer football transfer markets closing transactions, Rwothomio finds himself between a rock and a hard place and loud silence over the matter.
He reportedly wants a club where he will be trusted to deliver. He is also not demanding payment of his one-year contract left at the club.
Rwothomio only joined the side at the start of last season on a two-year contract from URA FC and scored three times in the league.
Vipers have since released Brazilian forward Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez and Ivorian forward Desire Tety, further complicating Rwothimio's situation.
