Odhiambo has struggled to get going at Djurgaden, the club Michael Olunga rose to prominence with.

Former Gor Mahia central defender Frank Odhiambo is on the verge of joining Swedish third-tier side AFC Eskilstuna on loan from top-tier outfit Djurgarden IF.

This marks the third time Djurgarden has opted to loan out the Kenyan defender to the lower tiers to aid his development and garner more experience.

As the new season approaches, Odhiambo is poised to embark on a loan spell at Eskilstuna, with Fotbolltransfers reporting that the third-tier side, relegated at the end of the previous term, has reached an agreement with Djurgarden for the 21-year-old's loan.

"We have many good players, and Frank (Odhiambo) is here and played with us (against IF Karlstad), so it is clear that there is some interest in it. We have come a long way with Djurgården in that matter," stated the publication.

Odhiambo's transition to Djurgarden in January 2022 on a five-year deal did not unfold as anticipated, with the towering center-back struggling to settle in the Swedish top tier.

Forced to train with the U21 side for acclimatization and experience, he faced setbacks, including a finger fracture in March 2022 that delayed his competitive debut.

Djurgarden initially loaned Odhiambo to third-tier side IFK Haninge in August 2022, a deal that lasted until the season's conclusion in November.

Despite returning to Djurgarden, he was subsequently loaned to second-tier club Vasalund IF in March of the following year before returning to Djurgarden at the end of the season in November.

Eskilstuna will also see the arrival of Odhiambo's compatriot Henry Meja, who joins the club on loan from top-tier side AIK.
