The Caterpillars needed a later goal from coach-player Samson Ceaser Okhuti to salvage a draw, to leave them eighth on the Betpawa FUFA Big League table with 16 points in 12 matches.

Onduparaka FC's pursuit for a return to the Uganda Premier League was dealt a blow as they were held to a one-all stalemate by Mbale Heroes FC at the Ababet Greenlight Stadium on Thursday.

The Caterpillars needed a later goal from coach-player Samson Ceaser Okhuti to salvage a draw, to leave them eighth on the Betpawa FUFA Big League table with 16 points in 12 matches.

Meanwhile, following the result, Mbale Heroes stayed third with 21 points out of a possible 36.

On the other hand, leaders Police FC dropped two points after a 1-1 draw with Kigezi Home Boyz at the Kabale Municipal Stadium.

The point, courtesy of Duncan Sseninde, left Police at the top with 27 points in 12 matches, while Kigezi Home Boyz now sit ninth on the log with 16.

Elsewhere, Blacks Power FC were dented a massive blow in their fight for promotion as they were beaten 1-0 by Kiyinda Boys FC.

With the result, Blacks Power descended to fifth with 20 points, while Kiyinda is now seventh with 17.

In the other bout on the day, Kataka FC were comfortable 2-0 winners over Calvary FC in Mbale to move sixth with 20 points, while the latter are 12th with 13.

At the Amaka Primary School Grounds, visitors Booma FC beat Young Elephants 2-1 to move fourth on 21 points, as the latter stayed languishing in the relegation zone with just eight points.

Ndejje University FC continued with their struggles as they lost 2-0 to Jinja North United to stay bottom with just seven points out of a possible 36; the latter moved to 13 points in 13th.

The round will be wrapped up today at the St George's Arena as 10th-placed Kaaro Karungi hosts current runners-up Lugazi FC.
