The Ugandan star has appeared to suggest that he is close to returning to action after suffering an injury late last month in what will be a big boost for Gor Mahia.

Gor Mahia midfielder Rogers Mugisha has provided a positive update on his injury following his two-week absence.

Mugisha has been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury during Gor Mahia’s FKF Premier League match against Bidco United on Saturday, October 28.

The midfielder earned a call-up to the provisional Uganda Cranes squad for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with hopes that he would be fit in time for Friday's clash away to Guinea but he did not win the fitness test.

The player, however, appears to be nearing a return going by his recent social media post.

“The comeback is always stronger. Way to recovery,” the player posted on X, accompanied by pictures of him training with the ball.

Mugisha went off during the clash with Bidco United with K’Ogalo coach Johnathan McKinstry casting doubts over his availability in the short term.

“Rogers looks like a hamstring, we will have that assessed and we send the boy our best of wishes but hopefully it won’t be too long,” McKinstry said at the time.

He has missed subsequent games against Shabana, Kenya Police and Murang’a Seal and it is still not clear if he will be fit in time for Gor Mahia’s match with Muhoroni Youth on Sunday, November 26.

Uganda started their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Guinea in what was the first match for new coach Paul Put and will be hoping to right those wrongs against Somalia next Tuesday.
