The retired striker, now a football administrator, recalls moments around his transfer to Ingwe.
Bonface Ambani has revealed what attracted him to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League AFC Leopards side in 1998.
While recalling his moments with Ingwe, Ambani said the welcome was super, as he also joined his brother Francis Ambani at the local giants and went on to make a name for himself at the den.
"I was among the hottest strikers around, and a juicy sign-on fee of Ksh200,000 in the offing from AFC Leopards chairman, the late Francis Chahonyo, lured me straight to my childhood dream team. With a salary of 3800/= and a rise to Ksh24,000, who would have stayed behind?" Ambani said in a statement.

"I joined my elder brother, Fred, in the ranks of the mighty Ingwe. The welcome to the team was extremely warm. I settled in very quickly."
His first match for AFC Leopards saw the former Rivatex striker score a goal that saved the club from defeat.
"On my debut, I came off the bench in the 80th minute, with Leopards trailing 1-0 against the Green Berets at Nyayo Stadium. I pulled it back and settled the score at 1-1. That's how I walked into the first 11," he added.
"A sublime clinical through ball from Philip 'Pikipiki' Ouma set me straight on goal, and with a power-packed shot, it was 1-1. I earned a point for Ingwe."

Ingwe's plans were thrown into disarray after the previous occupant of the position resigned.
Ambani is among the players that last lifted the Premier League trophy with AFC Leopards, and he mentioned, with ecstasy, his teammates and managers then.
"The club had the likes of Mohammad Fwaya, Mathew Ottamax, the late Eric Mbwabi, Francis 'Kolokolo' Oduor, Wycliffe Jumba, Paul Ochieng, Simon Mulama, the late Marius Mugisha, Austin Makacha, Philip Ouma, Bushira, Vincent Tendwa, Ojiambo, Francis Baraza, Kadenge Rodgers, George Sunguti, James Kayimba, and the late Peter Kakonge," the former Harambee Star concluded.
