Italian Serie A side US Salernitana 1919 have offered Ugandan striker Oscar Mawa an opportunity to break into the lucrative European top-flight football.

Ahead of the 2023/24 season, Serie A club US Salernitana has reportedly invited Oscar Mawa for trials with the prospect of an employment contract.

US Salernitana were in the relegation dog-fight last season as they finished 15th in the Serie A league table to secure their stay in the top-flight competition.

Mawa, a former SC Villa striker features for Italian lower division side Unione Sportiva Lucera Calcio that competes in sixth-division championships, Promozione. 

He moved to Italy only six months ago announcing his arrival with a bang as he smashed a hattrick in his debut match for Lucera Calcio. 

Prior to the move, Mawa was at Villa Park in the 2021/22 season on a one-year-contract after making waves in the FUFA Junior League.

He featured for KCCA FC in the FUFA Junior League and was a star at the 2020 U17 CECAFA Championship, Kigali where he scored six goals and bagged the golden boot.

Mawa was also a golden boot winner in the 2022 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) football championship Arua where he scored 12 goals for St. Andrew Gombe SS.

In related development, Mawa’s Lucera Calcio on June 30, announced the imminent signing of Arua Hill forward Innocent Media.
