22-year-old Juventus midfielder has been banned for up to seven months due to gambling violations and could now miss the rest of the 2023/24 season

Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has received a seven-month ban after being found guilty of illegal gambling activities by Italian authorities.

Fagioli suspended for gambling offences

The Juventus star was one of a number of Serie A stars past and present who were accused of illegal gambling by an Italian gossip columnist.

Fagioli was the first to admit guilt, as Juventus contacted the FIGC on behalf of their academy product to negotiate a plea deal that would prevent the midfielder from serving a lengthy sentence.

Juventus and Fagioli’s attempts for a plea deal were successful, as the midfielder avoided a possible three year sentence for a ban that could last between five and seven months.

Fagioli was technically sentenced to 12 months out of football, but five of those months can be commuted due to some agreed upon clauses and provisions.

As part of his plea agreement, Fagioli will have to attend therapy for gambling addiction for six months and will be asked to make at least 10 public appearances in five months to educate others on the dangers of gambling addictions.
