As they kickstart their preparations for the Zonal Qualifiers of the CAF Champions League, Kampala Queens WFC have landed prolific forward Fazila Ikwaput.

The CECAFA competition is set for June this year, with the edition to be hosted in Uganda.

The striker has penned down a two-year employment contract following the expiry of her agreement with Cyprus outfit Omonia Nicosia WFC.

"Kampala Queens is proud to confirm the signing of striker Fazila Ikwaput from Omonia WFC on a two-year contract deal," a Thursday statement from the club reads.

In acquiring the Uganda Crested Cranes star, Kampala Queens fended off opposition from East African giants Simba Queens, who were keen on securing her signature.

In her seven months in Cyprus, Ikwaput netted 19 goals and assisted nine times in just 18 appearances, an apparent show of her prowess.

Ikwaput left for Europe from her beloved, Lady Doves, a side she helped in the 2020/21 FUFA Women's Super League.

With them, according to records with the club, she bagged a whopping 36 goals in 34 matches.

Ikwaput joins a star-studded Kampala Queens, which boasts the likes of Shamirah Nalugya, Resty Nanziri, Margret Kunihira, and Resty Nanziri, among others.

The club won the recently concluded FUFA Women's Super League title for the first time in history, with 47 points, 14 ahead of their nearest rival, Kawempe Muslim Ladies.
