Uganda will host the first leg on Saturday 16th September, at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru before flying to Algiers for the return a week later.

Uganda Crested Cranes interim head coach Ayub Kiyingi has summoned a star-studded team of 36 players to start preparations for the upcoming 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria.

Uganda was pitted against the Algerians in the first of the two-round qualifiers for the finals to be held in Morocco next year.

Ugandan champions Kampala Queens, who have just represented the country at the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers, dominate the list with 13 players.

Others, including team captain Ruth Aturo and Anita Namata, who were part of Kenyan representatives Vihiga Queens, have been called.

However, the biggest news lies in the former team’s captain Tracy Jones Akiror, goalkeeper Vanessa Karungi and midfielder Riticia Nabbosa who have been recalled.

Aisha Nantongo, who has just joined the Danish first-division team Aalborg BK, is also part of the team.

Uganda will host the first leg on Saturday 16th September, at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru before flying to Algiers for the return a week later.

The winner of the tie will face their equivalent in the pairing between Burundi and Ethiopia.

The winner of the two ties will qualify for the 12-team finals next year.
