KCCA FC, under new tactician Sergio Traguil, started the UPL season with a disappointing 1-0 loss to BUL FC before falling 2-1 to Maroons and Express in front of their own fans at Lugogo.

Newly appointed KCCA FC chairman Andrew Sserunjogi Mukiibi is confident the club will rise from a poor start in the Startimes Uganda Premier League to challenge for the title.

The Kasasiro Boys have lost three games to start the campaign and are now languishing in the relegation zone with no points and a goal difference of -3.

While meeting the club staff and players at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Tuesday, Sserunjogi revealed that the team is in a ‘marathon’ and can expect success in the end.

“We are building our thing,” he said while addressing the team.

“This is a project. A project is a project, look at it as a marathon now, we are in a marathon,” he added.

KCCA FC, under new tactician Sergio Traguil, started the UPL season with a disappointing 1-0 loss to BUL FC before falling 2-1 to Maroons and Express in front of their own fans at Lugogo.

That came at the back of the team failing to make the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup despite winning their home match 3-2.

The 3-1 loss to Abu Salem in Tunisia turned out to be the difference as the 13-time league champions crashed out of the preliminaries.

“Many of you have seen these long-distance runners, do they begin at the front?” Sserunjogi asked.

“I don’t want now to look at the past. Let’s forget the past. Now, let’s energize ourselves afresh.”

Traguil and his charges will need all the energy in the world to get going, with a trip to Masindi, where table leaders Kitara FC awaits, next on the schedule.

Kitara are unbeaten and have collected maximum points in three matches, including a 2-1 win over record champions SC Villa to open the season.

The two sides will face off on Friday, and Traguil and his charges will be hoping to pick their first points of the season.
