Ayunga played a part in helping St Mirren grab a deserved SPL win against St Johnstone on Saturday.

Kenyan striker Jonah Ayunga came off the bench and played a part in helping St Mirren grab a 2-0 win over St Johnstone in a Scottish Premier League encounter that took place on Saturday evening.

Ayunga won all his attempted duels and beat his man successfully in the 15 minutes he was on the pitch and will be hoping he made a good enough impression to stake a claim to get back into the starting line-up in their next match.

Ayunga has scored two goals since his return to full fitness from an ACL injury in December.

St Mirren made a strong start, and Mitov made a crucial interception to deny Mandron. However, Mitov faced a moment to forget when Mandron's shot, deflected off Liam Gordon, found the net despite Mitov's efforts, striking the post and then hitting the back of the Bulgarian goalkeeper.

The second half had a delayed start due to technical issues with VAR. Despite the delay, St Mirren continued their momentum.

Mitov made an impressive double stop shortly after the restart, denying Mandron and Marcus Fraser. Lewis Jamieson's cross landed on the top of the St Johnstone goal.

St Mirren's pressure paid off in the 64th minute when Mandron, capitalising on a defensive error, scored brilliantly on the half-volley from inside the box.

Kwon Hyeok-kyu thought he had extended the lead, but a VAR check ruled out the goal due to a foul in the build-up.

St Johnstone struggled, and Adama Sidibeh was rightfully booked for a dive in the St Mirren box. Matthew Smith's attempt to restore hope went wide, and St Johnstone failed to find a consolation goal, ending the game with a disappointing display.
