The Derby della Capitale between Lazio and Roma ended a draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Derby della Capitale does not need extra factors to make it more captivating, but this instalment promised more, given the bad blood between the managers in either dugout.

The former Chelsea managers, Maurizio Sarri and Jose Mourinho went at each other before the game, but the players on either side could not manage to earn their bosses post-match bragging rights as the game played out a goalless draw.

Lazio played host today at the Stadio Olimpico as they looked to make it three wins in three against their bitter rivals but had to settle for a draw at the end, as there was little to separate both teams.

How it happened

Prior to the game, Lazio boss Sarri fired a shot at Roma, tagging their Conference League defeat to Slavia Prague as a mere friendly.

Mourinho fired back, saying he never views any game as a friendly and that is why he has won 26 trophies and other managers have so few (taking a shot at Sarri’s light trophy count).

Roma started with fire under their belly and pressed high against the Lazio backline. Lukaku and Dybala both had decent chances to take Mourinho’s side ahead, but neither found the back of the net.

Lazio grew into the game and Luis Alberto got the biggest chance so far in the 24th minute of the game when his shot from outside the box crashed against the upright. Both teams continued to fashion half-chances, but neither team did enough to get a goal.
