Roma had Lukaku to thanks once again as the Belgian scored his seventh goal in nine appearances in the Gialorossi's UEFA Europa League win over Slavia Prague

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku was on target again for Roma as they made it three wins from three in the UEFA Europa League group stages.

The Gialorossi earned all three points with a comfortable 2-0 win over Slavia Prague to take them to nine points in Group G, three points ahead of the Czech side, who now sit second in the group.

Goals from Lukaku and Edoardo Bove were enough for the home side, who could seal qualification for the next round when they play the return leg of the fixture in Prague.

How it happened

Roma have a crucial Serie A tie against Inter coming up this weekend but were not given the luxury of resting players as a long injury list meant that those who were fit enough had to play.

The difference in quality between both sides was evident from the get-go as Roma took the lead after less than one minute on the clock through Bove.

Italian forward Stephan El Shaarawy scored Roma’s crucial winner over Monza at the weekend and was crucial for the Gialorossi’s opening goal with an assist for Bove.

El Shaarawy continued to torment the Slavia defence and was the centre of things for Roma’s second goal as well, setting up Lukaku to double the Gialorossi’s lead and set them towards three points.

Roma took their foot off the pedal for the remainder of the match but were rarely threatened by Slavia Prague, who only managed two speculative shots on target throughout the entire match.

The Giaorossi were also able to take off the likes of Lukaku and Hassem Aouar late on, bringing on youngsters Riccardo Pagano and Luigi Cherubini to give the A-listers some rest ahead of the trip to the San Siro this weekend.
