Ugandan midfielder Pius Wangi Set to Leave Kakamega Homeboyz

Pius Wangi is set to part ways with Kakamega Homeboyz after completing his contract, with his next move yet to be confirmed.

Ugandan forward Pius Wangi is set to leave Kakamega Homeboyz barely a year after joining the Kenyan Premier League side.

According to Sports Swift Uganda, Pius Wangi joined Kakamega Homeboyz early last year on a one-year contract and is set to exit the club at the end of the season.

Upon signing with Kakamega Homeboyz, Pius Wangi joined goalkeeper Cleo James Ssetuba and Farouk Musisi, other Ugandans at the club.

Wangi was a free agent since leaving Uganda Premier League side Mbarara City FC at the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Ugandan has also featured for Vipers SC, SC Villa before featuring for Rwanda’s Sunrise FC. Pius Wangi's one-year deal with the Kenyan outfit is set to expire in June, leaving him out of contract.

Pius Wangi has been instrumental for Kakamega Homeboyz, making two appearances since his arrival at the club. Kakamega Homeboyz are currently fourth on the Kenyan Premier League table with 54 points.

They have played 32 matches so far, with two matches remaining before they conclude their Premier League campaign.

In their recent match, they beat Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 and will play against Bidco United and Tusker to cap off their 2024/25 season.

Founded 14 years ago, Kakamega Homeboyz is one of the oldest clubs in Kenya, and they play their home games at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Upon confirming that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, Pius Wangi has yet to confirm where he will be playing next.
