A national sports symposium aims to unite Ugandan stakeholders for honest dialogue, skill-building, and collaborative reform across all disciplines.
For many years, the Ugandan sports scene has battled with fragmented leadership, inconsistent development strategies, and a lack of unified direction.
Now, a leading local television NBS Sport is aiming to change that with the launch of The State of Ugandan Sport—a bold new symposium that promises to bring everyone with a stake in Ugandan sport under one roof for two days of honest reflection and strategic dialogue.
Slated for June 16–17, 2025, the symposium will be held at Next Media Park and is expected to host athletes, coaches, fans, federation heads, policymakers, sponsors, and media alike.

Top 5 African Footballers Who Own Expensive Private Jets
African footballers have enjoyed massive success on and off the field. While the huge perks is a reward for hard work, some of them own luxurious private jets.
Its goal? To turn potential into performance by aligning all voices in the sector.
Andrew Kabuura, Head of Sports at NBS Sport and the driving force behind the initiative, believes the timing is right for a national reset.
“The vision behind The State of Ugandan Sport is simple but powerful: bring everyone to the table,” Kabuura told Pulse Sports Kenya.
“Only when all stakeholders are in the room can we have the real, forward-thinking conversations that move Ugandan sport forward.”
The format of the event is ambitious. Mornings will be reserved for masterclasses covering practical areas like leadership, athlete development, branding, and wellness.
Afternoons will host high-level panel discussions tackling governance, funding, professionalism, and inclusion—critical areas that have long held Ugandan sport back.

“We’re creating space for recognition as well as reform,” Kabuura emphasized.
“This isn’t about blame—it’s about building together.”
The launch event saw enthusiastic support from key figures in the sporting community, including Nasser Sserunjoji of the Basketball Federation (FUBA), Godwin Kayangwe Arinaitwe of Uganda Rugby Union, and Anthony Tumwesigye of Beach Soccer Uganda.
“This symposium is not a show—it’s a national platform,” Sserunjoji noted.
“We need more moments like this where we come together, assess where we are, and align on where we want to go.”
