Lionel Messi is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, and Chelsea are considering making a move for him.

The Argentine has recently been linked back to his former club Barcelona but their financial woes are a stumbling block for the move.

There are plenty of other suitors who are looking to get the PSG star signature. According to reports, Saudi Arabia clubs are looking to offer Messi a mega deal which will make him the highest-paid player in the world.

Chelsea are also said to be interested in signing the 35-year-old if he leaves PSG at the end of his contract.

Messi might consider Premier League move

The World Cup winner might consider moving to the Premier League with Chelsea considered as a possible destination after making their interest known.

Having also won the World Cup at the conclusion of last year, Messi has made 37 appearances for PSG this season and contributed 20 goals and 19 assists.

Messi has been linked to the Blues numerous number of times during the Roman Abramovich era and now Football.London reports that they are back in for the Argentine forward under a different regime.

The seven times Ballon D’or winner has not played in the Premier League but has the opportunity to do so if he leaves PSG at the end of the season. He has only tested himself in Spain and France.

Boehly, who has already invested £600 million in new players, will be looking to bring Lionel Messi to Stamford Bridge as a statement signing.

The Blues who are yet to confirm the appointment of a new manager are currently sitting 12th in the Premier League and will not play European football next season.

Messi suspended by PSG

The World Cup winner missed Monday's training session without permission owing to a commercial commitment in Saudi Arabia and has been suspended for two weeks without pay.

The French outfit lost to Lorient 3-1 last weekend as Marseille closed in on the league leaders. After the game, Messi took a trip with his family to Saudi Arabia without the consent of the club which has led to the suspension and fine.

Messi’s punishment will be that he won’t enter the club facilities and will miss two Ligue 1 games against Troyes and Ajaccio.

There will only be three games remaining when Messi's suspension ends, so his attention is now on picking a team for the upcoming season.
