Manchester United fans have heaped praise on Lisandro Martinez after going in with a dangerous tackle on Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.

Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes' goals helped the Red Devils defeat Arsenal 2-0 in the Premier League Summer Series match in New Jersey, USA.

During the game, Martinez's rough tackle on the Arsenal superstar was the major talking point of the game.

The Manchester United defender, who is also known as the Butcher went in with a rough challenge on Bukayo Saka in the first half.

Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, reacted angrily to the challenge and approached Martinez.

Martinez received a yellow card for rushing into a tackle on the winger when he had little chance of winning the ball.

Manchester United fans react happily

Manchester United secured a 2-0 win against Arsenal yesterday in their preseason game but the Red Devil fans were more happy about Martinez's tackle on Bukayo Saka.

The Sun reported some of the comments made by some Manchester United fans as they hailed his flying tackle on Saka.

One wrote, "He's back! The Butcher is ready for blood!"

Another added, "They call Martinez the butcher for a reason!"

A third said, "Martinez butcher even on friendly 🔥"

And another commented, "Might just be the best defender in the Premier League."

Martinez's first season at United last year was a testament to his reputation for tough, aggressive defending.

The Argentine style is unlikely to change now that he has acknowledged that he gives every tackle his all.

The defender replied when asked what his Butcher nick-name was, as reported by the Sun, “I don’t even remember who gave me the nickname at Ajax or why. It must be because of the aggressive way I play my game.

“The truth is that I do go to each challenge like it is going to be my last one, so in one way it does suit me.

“Having said that, I’ve greatly improved the way I read the game and make decisions."
