Mario Balotelli: Playing style

Mario Balotelli is praised for his agility, quickness, creativity, strength, and eye for goal. He is also known for his pace, flair, physical prowess, and technique.

Despite being natively right-footed, his height, elevation, and physique enable him to excel in the air, and he is capable of scoring with either foot or with his head from inside the penalty area.

He is also a versatile attacker who can play anywhere around the front line, he typically plays in the centre as the main striker but has also been used as a winger and a second striker in many games.

Mario Balotelli is also a set-piece specialist and is regarded as one of the best penalty kick takers in world football.

With all the abilities he possesses, he was criticised by managers, teammates and the media for his attitude on and off the pitch, as well as for his inconsistency, temperament and arrogant behaviour, which has often led to picking up unnecessary bookings in his career.

Personality and public image

Mario, an Italian video game character from the venerable Nintendo game, is the inspiration for Mario Balotelli's nickname "Super Mario."

Mario Balotelli has been given a reputation by the media for being a difficult character and taking part in questionable and often amusing activities.

A lot of controversial behaviour was what Mario Balotelli was known for. He was always in one trouble or the other in every club he played.

The Italian forward now plays in Switzerland with FS Sion and might possibly end his career there as a professional player.
