Vipers have since trash-talked the reports stressing that Mbabazi is "down with malaria" and that "he is still the head coach."

For a second match running, Vipers head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi was a no-show on the touchline as they thrashed Wakiso Giants FC 4-0 at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende on Sunday.

The tactician's future continues to draw uncertainties after reports of his sacking rocked the airwaves at the end of the preceding week.

Vipers have since trash-talked the reports stressing that Mbabazi is "down with malaria" and that "he is still the head coach."

Meanwhile, on the triumphant Sunday evening, assistant coach Richard Wasswa was in charge of proceedings, as the case was in their 3-0 win over Iganga Young in the Uganda Cup.

Against Wakiso, it was four goals from as many scorers, with Fumador Asiwome, Allan Okello, Milton Karisa and Mohamed Salem Ekbad striking.

Asiwome tapped in off a delicious Karisa assist before the former got withdrawn through injury for Fazil Tumwine.

Tumwine would then turn provider for Okello's goal, which marked his first in Vipers colours in the league.

Into the second half, Tumwine yet again provided a perfect cross for Karisa to stretch the lead, before substitute Bright Anukani assisted Salem for a simple header at the death.

The win brought Vipers back to third on the log with 35 points, five adrift of leaders Kitara FC, who have played two games more.

Meanwhile, Wakiso Giants stayed 12th on the table with 20 points in as many matches.
