Gor Mahia are ahead of second-placed Posta Rangers by eight points which could reduce to five with a second consecutive loss against Ulinzi.

Gor Mahia coach Johnathan McKistry has read a riot act to his players ahead of their encounter against Ulinzi Stars on Saturday.

K’Ogalo saw their 21-game unbeaten run come to an abrupt end as they lost 3-1 to Kenya Police last Saturday, hampering their near-perfect record this season.

Now, McKinstry has made it clear in no uncertain terms that his side cannot afford to play like that again if they are to stand a chance of clinching the league title.

“We can’t afford to play like that again if we are serious about winning the league title,” McKinstry said as quoted on The Star.

“We had opened a comfortable 10-point league a fortnight ago but the defeat has reduced our lead to seven now. Any further flop could prove detrimental to our title charge,” the Irish coach  remarked.

McKinstry wants his charges to become holistic in order to revert to their winning momentum.

“It’s all about making all the departments tighter than they presently look. There’s some amount of work to be done in polishing the squad and I believe we only require a few drills to perfect our act,” McKinstry stated.

McKinstry has revealed that he will be shaking up the team for the game against Ulinzi.

“We are also considering the possibility of rotating the squad given the depth that we already have in place. I’ve noticed on several occasions that fatigue usually sets in at some point in time,” he added.

McKinstry asked his players to cultivate more confidence, saying doing so would give them the necessary composure to tackle their opponents effectively in matches.

He reiterated their desire to bag their 21st consecutive league title. “Our resolve is still the same. We are determined to clinch the title again this season,” said McKinstry.
