Despite being a free agent, Batambuze has been actively training with Homeboyz after completing the first round of the season with Tanzania’s Singida Big Stars.

Kakamega Homeboyz have completed the signing of Ugandan left-back Shafik Batambuze on a free transfer, penning a five-month contract.

The experienced Uganda international has been signed by the club and will bring forth a lot of experience to the side in their quest to finish as high as possible while also trying to defend their FKF Cup crown.

In a statement released on Homeboyz’s social media handles, the club were super proud to have completed the signing.

“We are glad to announce we have completed the signing of Ugandan International Shafik Buchu Batambuze. The experienced left-footed defender has joined the club from Tanzanian side Singida Fountain Gate FC,” the statement read.

Despite being a free agent, Batambuze has been actively training with the Kakamega-based side after completing the first round of the season with Tanzania’s Singida Big Stars.

Competing for a starting position, Batambuze is set to challenge counterpart Farouk Musisi, bringing his wealth of experience that includes representing Uganda at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Joining forces with fellow Ugandans Cleo James Ssetuba and Davis Kasirye at Kakamega Homeboyz, Batambuze significantly enhances the team’s roster for the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup.

Teaming up with Musisi, the three-capped defender aims to play a key role in Abana Beingo’s quest for success in both the CAF Confederation Cup and the FKF Premier League.

With a professional journey spanning various leagues, including stints with prominent clubs such as Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, Sofapaka, Western Stima, and Muhoroni Youth, Batambuze brings a wealth of experience to the team.

His extensive background also includes playing for Uganda's Simba FC and SC Villa, as well as Zambia’s Kabwe Warriors.

The addition of Batambuze strengthens Homeboyz’s defensive lineup, enhancing their prospects in the competitive FKF Premier League.
