Simba wa Nairobi have struggled to create a lot of goalscoring opportunities in their last five games since beating Vihiga Bullets in April

Nairobi City Stars coach Nicholas Muyoti is worried about his side’s lack of creativity and believes it is the reason they have struggled to convert draws into wins in recent matches.

The Simba wa Nairobi have only managed to find the back of the net two times in their last four league outings, leaving the former Kakamega Homeboyz tactician with plenty to think about.

“We are keeping clean sheets but we need to add goals and create more chances. It is something we need to work on, ” said Muyoti.

“We are not very clear and safe from relegation. We need to convert the draws into wins first and then we will be good to go.”

City Stars had to go through a lot of changes prior to the start of the season, using a lot of top flight debutants. They struggled for form at the start of the season, but have now found some momentum over the last two months.

The side have now gone unbeaten in their last six league games and Muyoti believes that the maturity his players have gained over time has been instrumental in avoiding defeats.

“You are pleased when you see players growing and maturing in the game. We’ve come a long way. It’s been hell but I am glad we are through it," he added.

"We are not repeating the mistakes, we were making progress. I am building up on what we have done so far and it gives me that confidence that we will do well.

“As the players have gotten to grips with how we want to play, we have managed to build a very strong character and fighting spirit amongst the players.”

The former Harambee Stars midfielder believes that getting a top 10 finish is still a realistic expectation with four games of the season left to play.

“Top 10 is still a very achievable target. We only have to focus on ourselves though. The teams ahead of us are not ahead by that much. It also depends on how other teams will fare, but the sooner we manage to start getting all three points on a regular basis, the better.”

City Stars are 15th on the 18-team table on 30 points from as many matches, 11 points adrift of the top 10 places.
