Should Charlton make the Round of 64, Asiimwe will be in the same fray with several Premier League teams who join the competition at this stage.

Ugandan defender Nathan George Asiimwe helped his side Charlton Athletic, to a 1-1 stalemate with Cray Valley in the Round of 128 of the English FA Cup on Sunday.

Asiimwe, 18, came on in the 61st minute for North Ireland player James Abankwah as the two sides tied, leaving it all to play for in the second leg.

Should Charlton make the Round of 64, Asiimwe will be in the same fray with several Premier League teams who join the competition at this stage.

Asiimwe was making his 15th appearance across all competitions this season, having played 13 in League One and one apiece in the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Overall, since making his professional debut with the club, the young defender has made 17 appearances.

Asiimwe has been through the Charlton Athletic ranks since 2019 as a 12-year-old.

His League One debut came in May this year in the final game of last season in a two-all draw with Cheltenham Town.

Two weeks later, Asiimwe signed his first professional contract, penning down a four-year employment deal.

Born to Ugandan parents in England, Asiimwe, who can play across all four positions in defence, is eligible to represent both countries.
