Under the shoulders of head coach Hussein Mbalangu, NEC have underlined they mean business on the pitch, and are ready to consort with the very best in the country.

NEC FC's meteoric rise as a football powerhouse in the country took another significant step, as they stormed the Stanbic Uganda Cup for the first time in their young history.

It's just one season in the Uganda Premier League and they are in contention for both the championship and the Uganda Cup.

In the UPL, they sit fifth on the 16-team log with 40 points, just four off the leaders, Kitara FC.

In the Uganda Cup, they were comfortable 2-0 victors over FUFA Big League leaders Police FC in the quarterfinals at the Kavumba Recreation Center on Wednesday.

Cromwell Rwothomio and Gadafi Wahab were on target to have the Diehards cruise in the Last Four.

They became the first team to reach the round in the 50th edition of the competition.

Under the shoulders of head coach Hussein Mbalangu, NEC have underlined they mean business on the pitch, and are ready to consort with the very best in the country.

Last season, in what was their first-ever time in the Big League (second-tier), NEC made instant progress to the Premier League, and are now rightly competing for Championships.

Their time in the Big League was just before they spent only one season in the FUFA Regional League, the third division of Uganda's football 'hierarchy.'
