Esther Okoronkwo and Asisat Oshola were on target as the Super Falcons overpowered Haiti.

The Super Falcons made it two in a row after a run of seven consecutive defeats with their 2-0 victory over Haiti.

The Nigerian women's national team continued their preparations ahead of the Women's World Cup with a friendly against Haiti played in Turkey. Goals from Esther Okoronwo and Asisat Oshoala powered the Super Falcons past the Caribbean nation.

How it happened

Randy Waldrum's team ended a run of seven consecutive defeats in February with a slender 1-0 victory over Costa Rica. This international window is to consolidate on that and build from strength to strength ahead of the World Cup in July.

The Super Falcons started well, but the opener did not come until the 46th minute, and it proved worth the wait.

Esther found the back of the net from a relatively difficult angle, beating the goalkeeper from the edge of the right side of the box.

Oshoala made it two for Nigeria in the 75th minute, with her striker's ultra instincts on display. She was in the right spot to poke in the ball after a rally of headers in the box fell right across the goal.

The goal brought calm to the Falcons—maybe too much calm, as they saw their margin halve only three minutes after doubling it. Melchie Dumornay capitalised on a lax defence to bring her team back into the game.

However, Nigeria managed to hold onto their lead, turning it into a victory after a stiff contest.
