According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Blues will have to cough out £52million to trigger the release clause for the talented Uruguayan midfielder.

The 22-year-old has also been linked with French champions Paris Saint-Germain who also tabled a reasonable fee but reports claim the Uruguayan wants a move to the Premier League.

With Matteo Kovacic set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, Ugarte would form a formidable partnership with Enzo Fernandez.

There will be no continental engagements for Chelsea next season after finishing 12th in the Premier League.

And Pochettino is expected to rebuild a Chelsea side who last won the league in 2016 under the supervision of Antonio Conte.

The ex-PSG gaffer reportedly signed a two-year deal with an option of a further year to prove to his employers he is capable of bringing the glory days back to the West London club.
