Erling Haaland failed to impact the game as Spain beat Norway to qualify automatically for the EUROS, and Dani Carvajal explains how they managed it.

Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal analysed Spain's victory over Norway, specifically how they kept the world's deadliest striker, Erling Haaland, quiet.

Spain beat Norway 1-0 in Oslo to book their place in the 2024 European Championships in Germany next year.

Barcelona's Gavi scored for Barcelona in the 49th minute, and the strike was enough as La Roja kept a shutout.

What Carvajal said

The right-back explained that they tried to set up with a compact shape so as to prevent their hosts from playing through them, and as the result shows, the match went as planned.

"We came here to win; we played a complete game," Carvajal told Teledeporte, per Goal

"They hardly gave us any chances and we are going home happy and with our ticket to the Euro.

"Defensively, from Unai [Simon] to Alvaro [Morata], we have been very compact; we have not allowed him to receive any comfortable ball. Praise the work of the centre-backs because they have done a fantastic job."

Spain and Scotland have been confirmed as the teams who go through from the group automatically, while Norway will hope to book a ticket through the Nations League.
