A Pulse Sports XI of the most outstanding players in the Premier League from game week 25
Arsenal continued their quest for a first league title since 2004 with a 1-0 victory over Leicester and Manchester City stayed on the Gunners’ heels with a convincing 4-1 victory over Bournemouth.
Elsewhere, Liverpool were lucky to come away with a point against Crystal Palace and there were huge wins for West Ham and Leeds.
Goalkeeper: Emi Martinez (Aston Villa) vs Everton
After his disappointing showing against Arsenal last weekend, Martinez redeemed himself by producing an impressive display to help Villa earn all three points against Everton.
Despite being under pressure for large parts of the game, Martinez was composed in possession, made two brilliant saves and kept confidence flowing through his backline.
Right back: Rico Lewis (Man City) vs Bournemouth
Another impressive display from the 18-year-old Lewis. The City youngster once again performed his role excellently, showing a maturity beyond his years.
He was tenacious in the tackle and rarely gave the ball away. No wonder Guardiola trusts him so much.
Centre Back: Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace) vs Liverpool
Guehi put in an exceptional performance against Liverpool, he read every pass, blocked every shot and displayed real leadership in the Palace backline.
Guehi has clearly shown he has the physical and technical ability to thrive in the Premier League and against Liverpool he was at his very best.
Centre Back: Christian Romero (Tottenham) vs Chelsea
Christian Romero was in fantastic form in Tottenham’s 2-0 victory against Chelsea.

While keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea isn’t particularly the hardest thing to do these days but he did his job with minimal fuss. In a sometimes shaky Spurs backline, Romero has been the one exception.
Left-back: Junior Firpo (Leeds) vs Southampton
Firpo has struggled to establish himself in the Leeds team since his arrival from Barcelona but he seems to be enjoying the width provided by Javi Gracia’s tactics.
He was excellent at the weekend against Southampton and took his goal brilliantly.
Central Midfield: Oliver Skipp (Tottenham) vs Chelsea
Skipp was exceptional against Chelsea at the weekend. He was tenacious in the tackle, composed and comfortable in possession. To cap a brilliant performance, he scored a wonderful goal to give Spurs the lead.
Skipp took his goal so well, beating João Felix to the ball in midfield before unleashing a thunderous half-volley past the Chelsea goalkeeper.
Central Midfield: Ilkay Gundogan (Man City) vs Bournemouth
Gundogan ran the midfield for City against Bournemouth. He was full of energy and composure, especially in the first half.
Goalscorers Erling Haaland and Phil Foden may have taken most of the headlines, but it was the classy Germany international pulling the strings that made it all possible.
Central Midfield: Granit Xhaka (Arsenal) vs Leicester
Xhaka was splendid in midfield for Arsenal against Leicester. Sensible in possession and strong in the tackle, he had a calming influence on the left side of the Gunners’ midfield.
Rumours of a new contract are deserved and mark an incredible redemption arc for the Swiss midfielder.
Right-wing: Phil Foden (Man City) vs Bournemouth
Foden has been in and out of the City side in recent weeks but he was handed a start against Bournemouth and performed superbly.
He was a ball of energy and impact on the right hand side, scoring and setting up an easy goal for Erling Haaland. He will want to continue this run of form and stake his claim for a regular starting berth under Pep Guardiola.
Left-wing: Manor Solomon (Fulham) vs Wolves
Solomon has now scored three goals in his last three appearances for Fulham and his latest was a worldie. Curling home from the edge of the box to help his team avoid defeat in a tough fixture against Wolves.
That’s a goal worthy of winning any game and Solomon makes my list just for that reason. Sue me.
Centre-forward: Danny Ings (WestHam) vs Nottingham Forest
After a slow start to his West Ham career, Danny Ings burst into life with a solid performance and two goals to send the Hammers on their way to a 4-0 win over Forest.
David Moyes will be hopeful the Striker’s goals can help West Ham finish the season strongly.
