The former Europa League champions could receive a four-match suspension, ending his campaign this season

Sevilla's clash with Villarreal ended in controversy, with Alexander Sorloth's winning goal deep into injury time leaving Sevilla reeling in a 3-2 defeat.

However, the aftermath of the match was even more contentious, as Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri accused referee Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias of bias in his handling of the game.

Potential ramifications for En-Nesyri

En-Nesyri's post-match comments could land him in serious trouble with the Spanish Football Federation's Competition Committee.

According to reports, if the matter is referred to the committee, the AFCON 2023 star faces a potential four-match ban, similar to past sanctions imposed on players like David Lopez, Jose Gaya, and Sergio Canales for the same offence.

Moroccan striker possibly played last Sevilla match

Should En-Nesyri receive a four-match ban as rumoured, his season would effectively come to an abrupt end, with three matches in LaLiga still remaining.

With the Moroccan striker expected to leave Sevilla in the summer, a ban for the rest of the current LaLiga season could mean that En-Nesyri’s may have already played his final match for the Rojiblancos.

En-Nesyri has been a key part of Sevilla’s team in recent years, scoring 72 goals in 192 appearances for them since joining from Leganes five years ago.
