Playing Thirteen years at a football club, especially at the level of Simba, is no mean feat, something Jonas Mkude achieved.

However, Simba has confirmed plans to honour Mkude at the club's annual fans' day dubbed 'Simba Day'.

"The junior team will do the first guard of honour, lining up on two sides for Mkude to walk through as they salute him; this will inspire them to work hard," Simba's Communications Manager Ally Ahmed noted.

"The second guard of honour will be made by the senior team players who also honour him, all in appreciating what he has done for the club."

Simba also confirmed that shirt number 20, which Mkude wore during his 13-year stay at the club, will not be worn next season.

It will be given to another youngster from the Junior side who will be promoted to the senior team, which was the case for Mkude.

"The jersey number 20 will not be seen in the upcoming season among the players until somebody with qualities like Mkude is identified."

"It doesn't matter which position he plays, provided he has the desirable qualities," Ally added.

Young Africans rumours

Amidst all this are the swirling rumours linking the Taifa Stars midfielder to Young Africans; reports have indicated that the Jangweni-based side has offered Mkude a one-year renewable deal with a bumper pay cheque.

However, the Mkude camp remains silent on the matter, but knowing the history between the two arch-rivals and how players always cross the divide, it's a transfer that can't be ruled out.
