RFEF president Luis Rubiales' mother was forced to end her hunger strike after being admitted to the hospital due to stress, palpitations, and anxiety

Angeles Bejar, the mother of embattled Spanish FA Chairman Luis Rubiales, has ended her hunger strike after three days as her son’s Kiss-Gate saga roars on.

Rubiales’ mother ends Hunger strike

She had embarked on the strike on Monday, after locking herself up in the family’s local church to protest what she described as a “bloodthirsty witch hunt” of her son, hoping that her actions would gain some sympathy from the general public and those in charge of investigating Rubiales’ behaviour.

Angeles Bejar was forced to end the hunger strike early when she left the church through the back door and was admitted to the hospital late on Wednesday night, suffering from stress, palpitations, and anxiety.

She remains adamant that the player involved, Jennifer Hermoso, is telling lies about her son and the incident that occurred after the FIFA Women’s World Cup final.

Rubiales still unwilling to step down

Hermoso, much like Rubiales, remains steadfast in her viewpoint and has noted that Rubiales’ kiss made her feel violated and assaulted, despite the suspended president’s claims that the gesture was insignificant and with consent.

Rubiales remains suspended from his role as RFEF president, as he undergoes a FIFA investigation into his actions following La Roja’s triumph at the World Cup.

Since the infamous incident, members of the national team’s coaching staff as well as the regional FA heads have resigned in protest, urging Rubiales to step down from his role as RFEF president, but the former LaLiga player has refused to budge.
