World Cup winner Jorge Vilda condemns FA President Jorge Vilda for tainting Spain’s World Cup victory with his behaviour

Spain women’s national team head coach Jorge Vilda has spoken out in condemnation of under-fire RFEF president Luis Rubiales after all his coaches on his coaching staff resigned over the recent scandal involving the FA chief.

Following Spain’s victory in the final of the Women’s World Cup, Rubiales was seen grabbing and kissing La Roja star Jennifer Hermoso on the lips, leading to widespread calls for his resignation.

Rubiales has refused the calls for him to resign despite being under investigation by FIFA and announced his decision not to step down from his role as RFEF president in a sensational general meeting of the federation.

He has since been suspended by world football’s governing body pending an investigation, with more voices calling for stricter measures to be taken against him.

One of the voices condemning him comes surprisingly from close ally Jorge Vilda, who has been supported through his own troubles by Rubiales.

Vilda slams Rubiales behaviour

Barely a year ago, a mutiny within the Spain women’s National team threatened to kick Vilda out of a job as manager, but he was backed by Rubiales who went against the players and kept him in charge of the team.

However, Vilda’s appreciation of Rubiales efforts did not stop him from condemning the RFEF president’s actions, calling them “inappropriate” and decrying the events that have occurred since then.

He said, “The events that have taken place since Spain won the Women's World Cup for the first time in its history and to this day have been a real nonsense and have generated an unprecedented situation, tarnishing a well-deserved victory for our players and our country."

It remains to be seen what steps the RFEF take against their suspended president next, with another general meeting set to hold imminently.
