The forward who joined the Tax Collectors in January from Tanzania’s Mbeya City needed three minutes to get off the mark for the club and put his side into the lead.

Joseph Ssemujju’s second half brace helped URA FC to a 2-0 victory against Onduparaka FC on his debut, as the Tax Collectors ended their seven-game winless run.

The stage for the two sides’ 14th league meeting was set at the Aba Bet Green Light Stadium, as the two sides came into the game needing victory to brighten what is a dismal season for them.

This was the first time the two met in Arua since December 2021, and throughout the first half, it was a game that looked ready to explode into life, but just required someone to light the fuse.

Onduparaka looked a much-changed side, with debuts handed to January signings Tony Odur and the returning Ezra Bida. With Sam Timbe also handing debuts to Joshua Lubwama, Nicholas Kabonge and Alfred Leku.

And throughout the first half, it is the visitors who looked more likely to have an edge on the game, as the Caterpillars once again looked shaky and uninspired even in front of their home fans.

They managed to hold on until the half time break, but Onduparaka were to be undone in the second half almost immediately following the introduction of Ssemujju in the 56th minute, replacing Vianney Ssekajugo.

The forward who joined the Tax Collectors in January from Tanzania’s Mbeya City needed three minutes to get off the mark for the club and put his side into the lead.

Ssemujju completed his brace with five minutes to go to hand URA just their third victory of the season, and take them to 17 points, though they remain 11th on the log.

Onduparaka remains bottom of the standings, losing their eighth game from 15 games played so far.

URA will seek to win back to back league games for the first time this season when they host Express FC on March 26. Onduparaka on the other visit SC Villa on March 24.
