The Cops drew their second straight game 0-0 away to Kaaro Karungi FC after they had shared spoils with second-placed Lugazi FC in a one-all stalemate last week.

Similarly, Lugazi followed up their draw against Police with another 1-1 stalemate against Booma FC at home.

The in-form striker Sam Ssemugugu opened the scoring for the hosts in the 19th minute before Wisley Kisakye equalized for the visitors in the 73rd minute.

On the other hand, third-placed Mbale Heroes FC capitalized on the situation and edged Young Elephants FC 1-0 on the road to close the gap at the top.

Abbas Kiberu’s 88th minute winner took Mbale level on 31 points with Lugazi although the latter is placed second with a better goal difference.

Matchday 17 will climax on Friday with Jinja North United FC hosting Calvary FC at Kyabazinga Stadium.
