Veteran defender Thiago Silva suggests his time at Chelsea is coming to an end.

Brazilian center-back Thiago Silva, currently playing for Chelsea, has recently hinted at a potential departure from Stamford Bridge after the 2023–24 season.

Silva, who will turn 40 in September 2024, has been a key player under manager Mauricio Pochettino. Despite showing no signs of slowing down and being a regular on the field, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and it's unlikely that Chelsea will offer him another extension.

Chelsea's Transfer Dilemma and Future Plans

Thiago Silva's potential exit poses a significant challenge for Chelsea, as they would need to bolster their central defence. The Brazilian also has his departure in mind, as he knows his time at the club will soon come to an end.

Speaking after Chelsea’s win over Middlesbrough to reach the EFL Cup final, he said, “Every time I play here at Chelsea, it's a special feeling. I know that with each game that ends, I have the feeling it’s ending so that makes me a little sad."

While young talents like Levi Colwill have shown promise, the team still appears to be exploring options to strengthen this position. Marc Guehi, a former Chelsea academy star now with Crystal Palace, has emerged as a potential target.

Guehi, valued at around £45 million, could be a long-term successor to Silva in the heart of Chelsea's defence. However, this move could face competition from other top London clubs.

Silva's connection with Fluminense

Silva also spoke about his connection with the Brazilian club Fluminense, where he started his career. He mentioned that he always follows the club and remains in close contact. While there have been rumours and expectations about his return to Fluminense, Silva clarified that there has been no concrete agreement or close settlement for such a move as of yet.

He confirmed having a conversation with Fluminense's president, Mário Bittencourt but emphasised that his immediate focus remains with Chelsea, where he extended his contract for another year
