The young talent delighted K'Ogalo fans with debut victory, showcasing skill and potential in a standout performance.

Uganda international Rogers Mugisha has expressed his satisfaction following a successful debut for the reigning Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champions, Gor Mahia.

The 20-year-old striker kicked off his journey with a resounding victory as K’Ogalo triumphed over Ulinzi Stars with a 1-0 win on Saturday.

The match marked a remarkable milestone for Mugisha, who recently signed a long-term contract with Gor Mahia after leaving his previous club, UPDF FC, in Uganda.

Overflowing with emotion, Mugisha expressed his excitement and gratitude on social media following the triumphant debut.

"It was a brilliant feeling to make my debut and collect maximum points for Gor Mahia. More to come. Thank you fans for the love,” he wrote.

Mugisha's presence on the field did not go unnoticed by Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry, who showered the young talent with praise

The Irishman highlighted the strategic approach taken in recruitment and the promising addition of Mugisha to the team.

"We ensured that our recruitment efforts were targeted in the appropriate areas. Take, for instance, Rogers Mugisha, who is just 20 years old and was a part of the team in the recent AFCON U-20 tournament.

"A few months ago, you could clearly witness the immense talent he possesses, even in his performance against Ulinzi,” McKinstry said.

During the match against Ulinzi, Mugisha showcased his prowess by orchestrating some excellent passes and even providing a what would be an assist to Benson Omala, who converted the chance into a goal, only to be ruled offside

Mugisha's journey to this pivotal moment was paved with accomplishments. He was a key player in the Uganda U-20 team's campaign at the 2023 U20 AFCON held in Egypt.

His standout performances earned him a spot in the tournament's group stage team and secured him the title of the Man of the Match in their 2-1 victory over the Central African Republic in February.

The young starlet was a constant presence in Uganda's lineup during the U20 AFCON, playing all four games with determination and dedication.

Unfortunately, Uganda's journey came to an end when they were defeated by the Nigeria U20 team with a close 1-0 scoreline.

Despite the outcome, Mugisha's performances left a lasting impression and earned him a well-deserved call-up to the Uganda Cranes senior side.

Mugisha's journey to the senior squad continued with his selection for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania in March.

While the youngster failed to get the chance to step onto the field during these qualifiers, his inclusion in the senior squad underscored his growing reputation and potential in Ugandan football.
