The soldiers earned a vital point in their quest for a top-five finish in the Premier League on Friday.

Ulinzi Stars supporters have named Stephen Etyang as the Man of the Match in their 1-1 draw with Kenya Police FC on Friday.

Etyang, who scored the equaliser for Ulinzi in the 75th minute, was recognized by the club fans as the best from the Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Nyayo Stadium.

Ulinzi were awarded a freekick which Etyang curled well past Kenya Police custodian Job Ochieng'.

"Congratulations to Stephen Etyang for being voted man of the match by our fans for the fantastic game yesterday (Friday) against Police FC," the club posted on their social media page.

"He was awarded the token by David Etale, the former British Army veteran and former Waterworks FC, KCB, and Tusker striker."

"We want to take this moment to express our gratitude to all the members of the Stand 001 Branch for your continued support of the team."

Etyang proved a real nuisance to the Kenya Police defence as he narrowly missed on the half-hour mark, shrugging off Omar Bongi down the Kenya Police left before finding the feet of Job Ochieng at his near post.

He went close again, too quick and powerful for Baraka Bandi on the left, but the sharp corner got the better of him again as Elly Saenyi's shot was blocked.

It was the first goal that Etynag has scored in the current season for the soldiers, who have Enos Ochieng as their leading scorer with six goals.

The draw leaves Ulinzi Stars joint seventh on 45 points, same as AFC Leopards, as Police remained fourth with 57 points with three matches remaining to the end of the season.
