Ulinzi had won just five of their first 16 games of the season, but have gon unbeaten in six of their last seven games.

Ulinzi Stars head coach Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani has explained why his charges fluffed their lines in what turned out to be a disastrous first leg of the FKFPL season.

The Soldiers have improved considerably over the second leg of the season, being unbeaten in six of their seven games following defeat to AFC Leopards on January 7.

During the first leg, Modo won just five of his first 16 games in charge of the club, leaving them languishing perilously in the relegation zone.

They are now 12th on 26 points after 22 games, and have a chance to finish as highly as possible, and Modo has now given his postmortem of how the season has been so far.

However, he highlighted positive developments, stating, “We shot ourselves in the foot in the first leg. We lost matches that we should not have lost, we gave away points we should not have given away, and that is why we are where we are now,” Kimani said.

Despite the early setbacks, Ulinzi Stars experienced a positive shift, with noteworthy signings contributing to increased options for the technical bench.

Kimani expressed optimism about the team's improved mentality in the second leg, emphasizing the need to capitalize on opportunities created during matches.

In assessing their current standing, Ulinzi Stars find themselves in 12th place with 26 points after 22 games.

Coach Modo remains hopeful about the team's chances of finishing the season on a high note, stating, "If we keep on playing like we did against Kenya Police and hopefully utilize the opportunities we create in matches, I am very sure we will collect many points that will help us finish in a respectable position."

As the season progresses, Ulinzi Stars aim to build on their recent successes, showcasing resilience and determination to secure a more favorable position in the FKFPL standings. The coach's strategic insights and the team's improved performance offer promising signs for their future endeavors in the competition.
