This looks like a strategy by Kenya Police to prevent Gor Mahia fans from attending the match, as they have made only 500 tickets available for sale.

Furious fans have made their feelings known about Kenya Police’s decision to hike up the ticket prices for their weekend clash against Gor Mahia  at the Police Sacco Stadium.

Gor Mahia are seeking to maintain their healthy 10 point lead at the top of the table while continuing their unbeaten run, while Police are on a quest to finish as high as possible under the stewardship of current interim coach Salim Babu.

The club announced on their social media pages that they would be selling their tickets as follows: VVIP tickets at 3000, VIP tickets for 2000 while regular terrace tickets for 1500 shillings.

Usually, VVIP tickets range from 300-500 shillings depending on the nature of the game, while terrace tickets cost 200 shillings.

Therefore, the decision to dramatically increase their prices, even with the nature of the game, is perplexing and has irked alot of fans, who have made their feelings known on social media.

“Abusing Gor Mahia brand for your financial gain,” One fan angrily wrote in response.

“This is utter greed. It must end,” another wrote.

Another fan was quick to rubbish the fact that Police lacks a sustainable fanbase that would allow them to pay alot for the side’s away ticket.

“When you travel away, do you have a fanbase that is big enough to buy a ticket and financially sustain the hosts? We will enter this game and you will not even get that normal 200 shillings from us.”

Another said that they would come with 200 shillings and still force his entrance.

“We will come there with the usual 200sh and we must enter.”

Another asked Police to know its place in the ‘Sirkal Derby’, belittling the club as being scared of an overwhelming support from the visiting fanbase.

“Being cowards is a bad thing. We will beat you Police whether you like it or not. We will come with 200 shillings and as you know, we are K’ogalo and there is only one ‘Sirkal’.”

Another wrote: “You don't know what you are doing, here in Kenya you can't charge the gate that way.

“If you don't want Gor Mahia fans to attend the game just tell us or if you want a lot from us just tell us but what I know is that Gor Mahia will beat you on Saturday whether you like it or not.”

Others said that the venue would not even be enough to accommodate the club fanbase and rubbised the stadium as “a training ground”

“Does the venue even have a capacity of accommodating the Gor Mahia fan base. This is a training ground, look for a better place to play champions.”

Another dismissed the Police management’s reasoning, threatening that Gor would still beat Police even with an enforced behind closed doors match.

“Don't behave on context of fear, after all Gor will still beat you, your thinking is really low,you think avoiding fans will give you extra energy,we have many games played behind doors and still teams managed to win,you will be surprised.”
