Victor Osimhen has revealed his most important goal - an ambitious quest to conquer AFCON glory with Nigeria's Super Eagles

Nigeria’s superstar, Victor Osimhen, has set his sights on achieving a new height in his illustrious career - winning the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, with the Super Eagles.

Pulse Sports can report that Osimhen expressed his eagerness and determination to add Africa’s most coveted prize to his already impressive list of accomplishments.

Heading into AFCON 2023

As the Nigeria Super Eagles prepare for the decisive clash against AFCON 2023 host, Cote d’Ivoire in their second match in Group A, Osimhen’s focus is clear.

The 25-year-old netted the decisive equaliser as Nigeria avoided embarrassment against Equatorial Guinea following a 1-1 draw in their tournament opener.

Osimhen, who played a pivotal role in SSC Napoli’s historic Scudetto win last season with 26 goals, is set to make amends after Nigerians accused him of costing the Eagles in the first match despite scoring a goal.

Speaking ahead of the all-important clash, Osimhen took time off to share what it would mean for him to win the AFCON with Nigeria.

The striker admitted that winning AFCON is a lifelong dream, and he is determined to achieve it.

"It would be one of the best moments of my life,” Osimhen stated according to Channels TV. 

“I have done that (win a title) with Napoli, I have made history, but no matter what I do, to be able to win the AFCON, I would go a long way in my life but probably when I do that I am done." 

On handling pressure

Following a shaky start to the tournament which saw the Super Eagle drop two points, Nigeria faces a tough task against the host nation, Ivory Coast, in the second match.

But with the weight of expectations on his shoulders, the former Lille man remains unfazed and ready for the battle ahead.

"I am the kind of person who doesn’t fold under pressure," he added. ““I have aimed high all my life while growing up, and this pressure comes naturally.

“As the pressure comes I take it into my head to try to give my best and do well for myself.”

With the game against the Elephants set to be one of the most watched at AFCON 2023, all eyes will be on Osimhen and his Super Eagles teammates as they look to right the wrongs from their AFCON opener.
