Ugandan Premier League champions Vipers have turned to a highly experienced Belgian coach to lead their technical bench despite John Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza’s success last season.

Ugandan Premier League champions Vipers SC have appointed Belgian Ivan Jacky Minnaert as their new head coach.

The club confirmed the news on their official website on Friday as they bid to remain at the top of the tree after winning both league and cup double last season.

A club statement read, "Vipers Sports Club have unveiled the vastly experienced Belgian manager, Ivan Jacky Minnaert, as head coach."

Minnaert will work alongside John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza, who led the team to a league and cup double in the 2024-25 season. The trio will aim to build on this success and take the club to even greater heights.

Minnaert arrives at Vipers fresh off winning the Liberian championship with Fassell FC. His extensive managerial career includes spells at Libya’s Al-Ittihad Tripoli, Union Estepona CF, AFC Leopard, Rwanda’s Rayon Sport, and several other clubs.

Luyinda and Muhumuza masterminded Vipers’ stay at the top last season when their co-coaching roles worked seamlessly but the club has decided to break that by hiring the Belgian who will now lead the duo.
