The Venoms have started negotiations with on-form Young Africans striker Fiston Kalala Mayele to lure him to Kitende ahead of next season.

Four-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have started preparing for the new season, specifically the CAF Competitions, if they win the league or Uganda Cup.

Pulse Sports can exclusively reveal that the Venoms have started negotiations with on-form Young Africans striker Fiston Kalala Mayele to lure him to Kitende ahead of next season.

One of the sources involved in the negotiations that preferred anonymity told this reporter that Vipers had already started the talks, engaging the player’s agent and Young Africans.

“Yes, Vipers have indeed made their intentions known to sign Fiston Mayele through his agent and Young Africans,” the source intimated.

“They have even tabled their beginning offer, which is in the region of between USD 50,000 and USD 100,000 with discussions ongoing.”

“They (Vipers) want to have a stronger squad when they play again in the CAF Competitions, specifically if they win the league or Uganda Cup,” the source added.

It must be noted that Vipers SC became only the second Ugandan club to play in the group stages of the CAF Champions League after KCCA FC in 2018.

They finished bottom of Group C with two points as Simba and Raja Casablanca advanced to the knockout phase, Horoya finished third.

For finishing fourth in the group stages, Vipers are entitled to US$ 550,000, approximately UGX2B however, even though CAF disburses the monies in bits, this website understands that Vipers are willing to invest most of the prize money back into the squad.

Mayele has been in top-notch form since he joined Young Africans in 2021 from AS Vita.

The DRC forward was last week recognized for reaching the 50-goal milestone across all competitions.

The ‘Predator’ as he is fondly known, has so far scored 16 league goals and also helped ‘Tiimu ya Wanainchi’ reach the semifinals of the CAF Confederations Cup for the first time ever.

He also scored 17 league goals last season as he guided Young Africans to a domestic treble.

With four games to spare in the Liigi Ku Baara, reigning champions Yanga have a five-point lead of their arch rivals Simba.
