23-year-old Nigerian giant on target again in Belgium, reaches out to Leverkusen hero Boniface
Nigerian forward Toluwase Arokodare continued his rich vein of form, netting his second goal in as many games as Genk defeated Anderlecht 2-1 in a pulsating Jupiler Pro League encounter on Saturday.
The 23-year-old giant striker's crucial strike kept Genk firmly in the hunt for the Belgian top-flight title, while also securing a valuable three points in their pursuit of European qualification.
Nigerian giant Arokodare and Boniface
After the match, Arokodare reached out to his fellow Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, who has been setting the Bundesliga alight with his exploits for Bayer Leverkusen.
Arokodare took to Instagram to salute Boniface, tagging the Leverkusen hero after his Genk teammate Zeqiri mimicked the latter's famous goal celebration following his match-winning strike against Anderlecht.
"Oga Boniface, how far?" Arokodare captioned his Instagram story, to which Boniface responded with a smiling emoji, acknowledging the Nigerian duo's blossoming bond across Europe's top leagues.
With his rich scoring form showing no signs of abating, Arokodare's performances will undoubtedly be catching the eye of Super Eagles selectors ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
And if he can maintain his giant strides, the towering frontman may well be joining Boniface in spearheading Nigeria's attack on the international stage sooner rather than later.
Arokodare has scored 11 goals and assisted two others this season for Genk in the Jupiler. Three of the goals have come in four matches in the title playoff.
