A Jamaican 1-2 is possible - Usain Bolt believes Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville can win 100m Gold and Silver in Tokyo
Ahead of the start of Tokyo 2025 World Championships, track legend Usain Bolt has backed his compatriots Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville to win gold and silver medals in the men's 100m event.
The Jamaican sprint icon, speaking at the PUMA event before the World Athletics Championships, made a bold claim on his countrymen being the only top two medallists capable of challenging defending champion Noah Lyles.
"There's no reason they (Thompson and Seville) shouldn't be top two because they're in the top fastest times in the world this year, I think, so it's just about executing, so they should be fine, and I think that they can get it done," said Bolt.

Thompson has the fastest time in the world this year, after clocking 9.75s to win the Jamaican trials, while Seville sits fifth fastest this season with a brilliant time of 9.83s.
They're currently two of the favourites for the men's world 100m title, but will have to overcome the USA's Lyles, who is the defending champion and known for always delivering when it matters most.
He will be chasing an astonishing feat of being the first sprinter to defend a world 100m title since Bolt (2013 and 2015) and the first American since Maurice Greene (1999 and 2001), while Thompson and Seville will be gunning to be the first Jamaican to accomplish the title since their national icon, thus making for an exceptional men's 100m event to anticipate in Tokyo.
